Quote: Fire it up!

“The mind is not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be kindled.”

Plutarch

Note: Nothing like a dead Greek philosopher for a little parent ego check. It’s not so much about the books I want to read. It’s what my kiddo is into, which is why we are still reading Growing in Love: Virtues for Little Ones
every frakkin’ night.

Wait, does frakkin’ count as a swear word?

It’s actually a cute little book for introducing concepts of right and wrong with a heavy serving of Christianity on the side. We spend less time on the prayers and more time on the examples – oh look, see how that mouse is helping the rabbit write his name? Just like how you helped me write all over the notes for my yet-unpublished great american novel?

I’m willing to bet there are no picture books of Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics or Kant’s The Metaphysics of Morals.

So until those are published, Growing in Love will have to do.
