Book: The Ghost of Sifty Sifty Sam

Beware the ghost of Sifty Sifty Sam
Who rattled the windows and made doors slam
Not a single soul dared stay overnight
Then a chef named Dan said he’d try till first light

He brought with him pots and pans of all sizes
Veggies and fish and chicken surprises
Sam made an appearance, gulping everything around
Such slurps and burps – what a horrible sound

He’d been hungry for years, the ghost explained
His appetite had grown for years grown unrestrained
They struck up an agreement, one cooked and one cleaned
Tasty meals shared with all, from a cook and his fiend

Note: Halloween books are a dime a dozen, but it’s harder to find holiday books with multi-cultural characters that don’t have that afterthought feel – Editor: Can we make one of these secondary characters some sort of nondescript ethnic type? We’ll sell more books that way…

Angela Shelf Medearisimaginative tale is a good-old-fashioned ghost story with just enough suspense to keep kiddos engaged without giving them nightmares.

Just be warned though, don’t read it on an empty stomach! The growling might prove spookier than the story itself!
