Book: Pumpkin Heads!

Pumpkin Heads!
by Wendell Minor

Pumpkin heads, Pumpkin heads, bumpy orange pumpkin heads
Pumpkin heads, Pumpkin heads, carve them up
Yum!

In the window, laughing cackling pumpkin heads
In the hallway, waiting to be seen

Pumpkin heads, Pumpkin heads, bumpy orange pumpkin heads
Pumpkin heads, Pumpkin heads, carve them up
Yum!

Ask a pumpkin head anything you want to
They won’t answer, their mouths aren’t real

Pumpkin heads, Pumpkin heads, bumpy orange pumpkin heads
Pumpkin heads, Pumpkin heads, carve them up
Yum!

Note: Pumpkin Heads! has, well, illustrations of pumpkin heads – but nothing too scary for the little ones. If you’re looking for a book to pair with pumpkin paring, or just need something to explain jack-o-lanterns without giving your kiddos nightmare (like this version), then give this book a look-see.

Thank goodness for jack-o-lanterns on our block. With our rolling power outages – which I hadn’t seen since my last trip to Trinidad – those pumpkins are really the only things lighting up our pitch black street.

Gosh, I hope this isn’t a sign of Things to Come. What will we do for Thanksgiving? Set out flaming turkeys?

Bonus: The Fish Heads video (ahh, memories). And get your Dr. Demento fix here.
