Grumpy bird, grumpy bird
Grumpy is your favorite word
Where’s your smile? Where’s your grin?
How did your grumpy day begin?

Did someone bend your favorite twig?
Or make a promise then renege?
Good thing you have some awesome friends
Your persistence theirs transcends

Note: Sometimes, it’s hard to remember that kiddos have moods just like adults, and that sometimes, they can just wake up on the wrong side of the bed.

For Nick, this can be a real problem, since the other side of the bed is a wall!

Grumpy bird wakes up is a “fowl” mood – couldn’t resist – and takes this grey cloud of gloominess with him on his walk. His pals, a ragtag group of fellow forest dwellers, walk with him and eventually cheer him up. Afterwards, everybody eats.

We should all have friends like these.

(Thank you, Laura)
