There once was a bird name Choco
Whose friends all thought he was loco
He searched for a mother
One beast to another
Was it sad? Well maybe un poco

Note: This is such an awesome adoption book.

Plot? Check

Memorable characters? Check

Eye-catching illustrations? Check

Multi-cultural approach? Check

Anvil-laden message? Nope! Thank goodness.

To introduce the concept of adoption to a 2-year-old, I don’t need the Gilbert Gottfried approach to storytelling – “Cause he’s ADOPTED! Get it?! It’s about ADOPTION.”

Never overly earnest or cloying, Keiko Kaza just tells a story about a bird and his journey.

So, is 2 a little early to introduce Joseph Campbell?
