Picture if you will
A boy with a pail
A dog at his side
As he hikes down a trail

Picture right now
A frog on a pad
Catching some flies
Till a SPLASH from a lad

With the frog in a huff
And the boy soaking wet
They soon parted ways
And then that was that

But wait, picture this
The boy and the dog
Reunited at bath
Along with the frog

Note: Author/Illustrator Mercer Mayer has written over 300 books (yes, 300). A Boy, A Dog and A Frog, written in 1967, is one of the first pictures books without words. Wordless books are great for helping kiddos develop skills such as storytelling, vocabulary, observation and imagination. Have fun making up the story, or listening to your kiddo’s version.

And be sure to check out the other books in the series:

A Boy, a Dog, a Frog, and a Friend

Frog, Where Are You?

Frog on His Own

Frog Goes to Dinner

One Frog Too Many
