Suppose
Something silently slithered somewhere slightly suspect
Seeing said something someone screamed
Satisfied, someone said “shhhhh!” smiling
Sound silly? (Shrug)
So?

Note: Set in France, Tomi Ungerer’s Crictor is a very sweet story about your friendly neighborhood boa constrictor – “Crictor” for short.

Crictor saves Madade Bodot from your not-so-friendly neighborhood burglar, who is then apprehended by your reasonably-friendly neighborhood gendarme (complete with gun, so be warned if you’re not keen on guns in a children’s book). The middle has a lovely numbers and letter section (for which Crictor is kind enough to contort himself).

This is Nick’s new favorite book (perhaps because we have so many snakes living in our backyard.)
