Book: Henwick’s Egg
A bandicoot named Hunwick
Found a special egg
After winds and rain
Danced o’er the plain
Which left his friends most stoic
This “egg” had not an owner
He gradually surmised
He asked around
But none was found
So he kept and loved the stone.
Note: Another tale from the land down under by Mem Fox. Unconditional love can take many forms, even between a marsupial and his found friend…I think based on Pamela Lofts uber-realistic illustrations, Hunwick got the better deal.
