Maisy is an adventurous mouse
Whose stories should decorate your house
From complex to simple
They’re cute as a dimple
And have much for your kiddos to discuss
Note: Maisy’s Favorite Animals was the first story that Nick “read” to me. He started with something about sheep drinking milk from a mouse (the cover) and then named the animal on each page, with varying degrees of exposition — the cow and horse warranted their own backstories — before closing the last page with a self-satisfied, “The End”.
This board book – about the size of a thick pad of post-its – is perfect for his little fingers. And as his vocabulary increases, I expect the narrative complexity will increase as well. This is one story time I’ll always have time for.
